Center for Policy and Dialogue recently stressed the integration of the Social Development Goals (SDGs) in the national planning process and institutional mechanism. This would be one of the five challenges, the others being inclusion in the financial and non-financial resources, institutional mechanism for implementation, monitoring data and lastly participation and accountability.

A more sustainable country
Bangladesh has met many Millennium
Development Goals already and are on course to meet more, which are to be set
by the current general assembly. The primary target for the country is
Eradicating extreme poverty by 2030. Extreme poverty and hunger (currently
24.8%), achieving universal primary education (98.7%), reducing child mortality
(46 per thousand), and improving maternal health (170 deaths per 1 lakh births)
are set on being improved by the end of this year.
