Warnings for ill-businesses

NBR: New budget to be dreadful for dishonest business

The NBR is officially coming down on mal-practicing businesses, as stated by the NBR Chariman. The statement directly implied NBR's monitoring will be fortified and it will be reflected in the upcoming Budget. Policy measures will be present as always for incentivizing honest businesses, while serving dishonest ones severely.

Of tax and taxpayers


The NBR has designed a drive to bring in 320,000 tax payers under the net by the conclusion of this fiscal year. A special survey will be launched this month which constitutes the heart of the drive. The "NBR Survey-2015", will attempt to discover 20,000 more taxpayers from each of the 29 tax zonal offices. This survey will be conducted by the field offices in teams, three times a week. Income Tax Fair


We finish the week with a short post about Income tax, fitting since it started off with taxes as well, although on the wrong side of the public agenda.

The annual national income tax fair is being held in Officer’s club in Bailey road, Dhaka and also at Agrabad in Chittagong, aiming for rasiing awareness and motivating people for paying tax and widening the tax net. Of 16 crore people, only 17 lakh Tax identification Number (TIN) is present, from which even only 12 lakh filed tax returns last year. This was admittedly short of the goals of bringing 50% of public revenues through income tax by 2022.
