A more sustainable country

Bangladesh has met many Millennium Development Goals already and are on course to meet more, which are to be set by the current general assembly. The primary target for the country is Eradicating extreme poverty by 2030. Extreme poverty and hunger (currently 24.8%), achieving universal primary education (98.7%), reducing child mortality (46 per thousand), and improving maternal health (170 deaths per 1 lakh births) are set on being improved by the end of this year.

Today Bangladesh will publish the 8th MDG development report, on the brink of setting Sustainable Development Goals by the UN,  with a 15-year implementation period till 2030. Of a possible 17 goals, the first two are end poverty universally and ensure food security, nutrition and sustainable agriculture. Bangladesh has been acknowledged by the UN to be a forerunner in progressing towards achieving the MDGs.  With this is perspective, we will continue advancing and hoping for a more sustainable country by 2030.
