Upcoming biggest Trade Exhibition Center in Bangladesh


The National Economic Council (NEC) of Bangladesh is responsible for the proposals and approvals of all economic investment projects in the country and those public sector investments above a certain level.

Recently the Executive Committee of NEC (ECNEC) has approved the development of a massive permanent trade exhibition centre in Dhaka Purbachal area. Claimed to be the largest trade center in Bangladesh, it was approved to be started construction in June 2018.
Recently most trade and business exhibitions are held in and around the Bangabandhu International Conference Centre (BICC), this being the only international conference center of Bangladesh. BICC was previously known as Bangladesh China Friendship Conference Center designed by Beijing Institute of Architectural Designs and Research. The immediate project of the new trade exhibition center will also be aided by Chinese grants worth of TK 625.7 crore, correspondingly being referred to as Bangladesh-China Friendship Exhibition Center.

Valued at Tk 796 crore, it is on a total land area of 20 acres, thus being the biggest in the country. As a vision to facilitate showcasing of products of local producers and exporters and equally importantly attracting foreign businesses, this is a step in the right channel for national business environment. It is one of the nine projects that the ECNEC approved valued at Tk3,368.63 crore, alongside other development project for the country.
