Flyover update

Concrete block in city's heart

Upon the feature in the CES blog last week, there has been more news coverage previously of the discrepancies with Maghbazar-Mouchak flyover construction, which is taking eons to complete. Even which was blueprinted, there are significant design drawbacks, which cast a shadow over the pledged traffic congestion remedy. The image highlights at least 6 design flaws and few irregularities that contribute to the fiasco of flyover construction.

Apart from the design nightmares which the image clearly depicts, irregularities with bypassing standard protocol is enough to make a civil engineers heart leap. Mandatory approval and vetting processes of the construction was bypassed by the LGED, thus not officially approving the proposed design. The LGED which should have synced the plan to accommodate the proposed design of the metro rail and Bus Rapid Transit (BRT), is being covered by the Dhaka Transport Coordination Authority (DTCA) who was the approving body for the flyover proposals. With a lack of right turns, which blocks access to Tejgaon from the Moghbazar intersection, crucial areas would be deprived of the metro rail and BRT access from the flyover.

With more irregularities and LGED controversial attitudes, you can look through the news article for a clear picture.
