PM urges RMG makers to set up new factories in economic zones
The BGMEA Administration has called on the government and the Prime Minister to support the RMG expansion with planned and infrastructurally supported initiatives. The Prime Minister has herself urged manufacturers and exporters to set up new industries centered on the economic zones. The BGMEA believes in this call for structurization as it will benefit from those zones.
Energy demand for the industry was assured to be met by the Prime Minister, but greater efforts and priority has to be set for relocation. Also, the rates offered by IFC and JICA for low-cost RMG remediation have rates that needs greater support to businesses. The Australian controls on air shipment from Bangladesh are also difficult for the RMG sector. This has been urged by the BGMEA towards the Prime Minister to arrive at better agreements for the continued competitiveness of the RMG sector in the international stage.
